You might think that being on a hockey team and competing in tournaments is simply a matter of fun for your child. And, while hockey is and
certainly should be fun, that’s not the only benefit. No, research has proven
time and time again that participating in sports and being part of a team
benefits children in more ways than one.
In fact, according to True Sport Report, a youth
sports publication, children who participate in team sports typically make
higher grades in school than their non-athlete peers. Furthermore, sports
players typically attain higher levels of future education and go on to be more
successful than non-athletes.
Aside from the potential educational benefits, sports also
provide children with a way to get some exercise! In a day and age where people
can spend hours in front of the television or computer, being active is vital.
Athletes are less likely to be overweight and are typically more physically fit
than those who do not participate in sports.
Yet another great aspect of team sports is the social
aspect. Children who are on sports teams have more opportunities to make
friends and to get to know people from all walks of life. They also learn the
value of teamwork and how to get along with others.
Obviously, playing sports is incredibly advantageous for any
young person. Give your child the opportunity to become a better, more successful,
better-rounded individual through sports.
