Believe it or not, it’s almost that time of year again!
Before you know it, it will be time for the Hockey Weekend Across America
event. This coming year’s event- the 11th- will be held on March 2nd
through 4th, as recently announced by USA Hockey.
Dave Ogrean, the executive director of USA Hockey, says he
is excited about the event, which is happening the weekend after the Winter
Olympics. He feels the timing is just right to draw attention to the sport.
In addition to the dates for the event being released, other
exciting news has been announced. For example, the weekend will have a unique
theme for each day. On Friday, March 2nd, the theme is “wear your
favorite hockey jersey.” For Saturday, March 3rd, the theme is “try
hockey,” which will promote the sport to new and interested players. And,
finally, Sunday, March 4th, will be “celebrate local hockey heroes” day.
The event, which was created in 2008, operates with the goal
of encouraging people in the hockey world to celebrate the sport and promote it
to new people, including and especially burgeoning young athletes who could
just become the star players of tomorrow.
It’s obvious the 2018 event is truly going to be something
special, so start getting excited now!
